My favorite violinist

  Today I’ll talk you about my favorite violinist, Itzhak Perlman. He’s one of the greatest and most famous violinist of the 20th century and today. His performances are extraordinary and charged with deep emotion and ease. He became ill with poliomyelitis when he was 4 years old, for this reason he must use crutches to move and for this reason he plays violin sitting down (the solo violinist always perform standing up, and in fact it’s practiced standing up, for this many violinist suffer from varicose veins) Also, he have synesthesia, which allows him to hear colors and see music; we can see him talk about it in an interview for Tasting the Universe by Maureen Seaberg. He studied at the Tel Aviv Music Adacemy, before moving to the United States. At the age of 13 he entered the famous Julliard School, where he studied with Ivan Galamian and Dorothy DeLay, great pedagogues in the violin world.
