My favorite piece of technology

A  few years ago, I was a member of a string quartet (I'm still a member...honorary jejejeje) called Cuarteto Venus, we had an instragram, facebook, email...everything to work playing music at weddings, events, ceremonials, etc. We were only women, I played second violin. Well, the thing is ... all my colleagues had an Ipad to read sheet music, except me. They always told me "Mariana, buy an Ipad and it will change your life", but I was stubborn, and I didn't listen to them. Just so you understand me... Musicians have a house full of sheet music, mountains of paper...for each piece, print, print...and...print some more. I had a pile of sheet music, taking up space...it was awful. My dream was to have a filing cabinet…how naive I was. But one day, I had some extra money and I decided to buy an ipad I couldn't believe it. It was amazing... I could do everything! Read sheet music, take notes, violin tuning apps, watch videos, study, listen to music, rea...

how I became a musician.

Hello everyone, today I am going to talk about how I became a musician. All my life I have loved art in general, especially visual art and music. My mother is a painter and she taught me to paint since I was 3 years old. Over time, drawing became very natural and easy for me. At the same time, my whole family enjoyed music very much; classical, traditional, old romantic; like Raphael, Camilo Cesto, Nino Bravo... and the orchestra was a common factor in that music. To top it off, when I was about 4 years old, I started watching Sailor Moon, and my taste for drawing and music was mixed thanks to that series. Okay, but why am I a musician and not an illustrator? Well, it's hard to say... I honestly think that it's more easy for me to draw, and like some people, I love difficult things...Who knows jajaja   But, the true is that I love drawing too! so after I finish studying violin, I'll go back to drawing, at least as a hobby. About my university’s experience…mmmmm ...

Some about me

Hi everyone, I'm Mariana Vergara, violin student of the Art faculty of Universidad de Chile. I was born in Rancagua on January 12th, 1990. Rancagua it's a nice place, but too small compared to Santiago, only had a population of 225.563 in 2017.  I'm the youngest of three brothers, all of they are scientists; my older brother Rafael and José Luis, the younger one after me, are chemicals. Roberto, the middle brother studied forest engineering and he was a boxer, he won the South American amateur boxing championship in light weight, years ago. Sadly, for my all family, he died four years ago...life it's not the same after that...He had one child, my niece Tanita. I love she. About my parents; my mom is pinter, she studied art and theory and art history. My dad worked in Codelco, in the foundry Teniente. They gave everything for us. I started to play violin when I was 13 years old. My dream was to play the music of Sailor Moon, I never imagined that I would play that music ...
